NEC has delineated a JORC compliant resource that currently totals some 250Mt of Measured, Indicated and Inferred resources.
The cross section shown in the accompanying picture shows typical Surat Basin coal seams. The shallow target seams at Elimatta are interpreted to be a part of the Upper Walloon Coal Measures. These measures are sometimes known as the Juandah Coal Measures and are overlain by the Springbok sandstone. It is believed that the Lower Walloon Coal Measures are found at greater depth and are separated from the Juandah Coal Measures by the Tangalooma sandstone.
The Walloon subgroup consists mostly of interbedded sandstones and siltstones with regular coal seams of between 0.3 - 6m thickness typically consisting of multiple coal plies per seam.
The A+B seams are consistently thicker than the other seam units and less banded in their appearance than the remainder. These target seams also coalesce in the central region of EPC650 creating a 10-13m thick sparsely banded coal unit.
