Keith Barker has over 25 years experience in the mining industry in engineering, investment and evaluation roles. He graduated in Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London University UK in 1979 and completed a Master of Business Administration at the Australian Graduate School of Management UNSW in 1985.
Biography
Immediately prior to joining Northern Energy Corporation, Keith was with the Queensland Resources Council where he was employed as Industry Policy Advisor. Within this peak industry body he was responsible for representing the resources industry on matters of infrastructure, economic and exploration policy. Between 2001 and 2004 he also acted as a consultant providing coal market and infrastructure advice to a number of mining, infrastructure providers and financial entities. Previously he was employed with QCT Resources, then Australia's largest publicly listed coal mining companies as Manager Corporate Development where he was responsible for project evaluation, infrastructure contracts and investor relations. During the earlier part of his career his experience included positions as a mine planning engineer, a consulting engineer and investment analyst (resources) in the stockbroking sector. Keith has an extensive background in the coal industry.
